Explore Lake Fagnano and Lake Escondido

Set in the heart of Tierra del Fuego, these lakes rest where the Andes Mountains meet vast glacial valleys and millennia-old waters. The journey blends untouched nature with scenic viewpoints and glimpses into Fuegian rural life.

Itinerary

Departure: 9:00 a.m.

  • Setting off from Ushuaia along National Route No. 3
  • Scenic drive through the Carbajal, Tierra Mayor, and Las Cotorras valleys
  • Ascent along a mountain road to Garibaldi Pass (450 m / 1,476 ft above sea level)
  • Stop to enjoy the views of Lake Escondido and, weather permitting, Lake Fagnano
  • Descent to the shores of Lake Fagnano, with free time to enjoy the surrounding landscape
  • Return journey with a stop at a winter center for lunch or winter activities (optional)

Arrival back at your hotel in downtown Ushuaia at approximately 3:30 p.m.

To ensure a comfortable experience, we recommend keeping the following in mind:

  • Dress warmly and in layers, as weather conditions may change quickly.
  • Wear comfortable footwear, ideally athletic or trekking shoes, suitable for uneven terrain.
  • Bring a fully charged camera or mobile phone to capture landscapes.
  • If you plan to have lunch at the winter center, we recommend checking availability and making reservations in advance.
  • This excursion is not recommended for guests with very limited mobility.
